Sanitary Protective Zone project of Krasnoyarsk SDPP-2 endorsed by Rospotrebnadzor

With the endorsement given by the Rospotrebnadzor of the Russian Federation to the branch of OJSC “WGC-6”  the size of the sanitary protection zone of the Krasnoyarsk SDPP-2 is estimated. Exactly one year ago, the experts of the “GCE” group of companies were invited by the management of OJSC “WGC-6” to develop the project for determining the size of the sanitary protection zone of the branch.

The estimated size of the Sanitary Protection Zone (SPZ) was 1000 meters to all the directions except to the north, where the Sokarevsk horticulture nursery № 3 is located. There the SPZ size is reduced to 920 meters. The eenvironmentalists have justified the reduction by the fact that at the boundary of the SPZ in the northern direction the contamination level does not exceed the legally permitted level, taking into account the implementation of the newly developed measures. The SPZ size for the ash-slag dump, located one mile away from the power plant, is determined as 300 meters.

Let us remind you that the sanitary-protective zone is created to protect the population from the influence of harmful factors.
The Krasnoyarsk SDPP-2, the branch of the OJSC “WGC-6”, is a part of the OJSC “WGC-6” and is a major power plant in the East Siberian region of the country. The branch has developed the action plan until 2016, aimed at reducing the air pollution. This includes a replacement of the existing gas-cleaning equipment by more efficient one.
